An evening of the Hiroshima Day
In August, when the nights get darker, it’s time to light the floating lanterns again. On Hiroshima day, the 6th of August, we will respect the memory of the victims of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. We will remind the world of the senselessness of nuclear weapons and the importance of working for peace.
The event takes place near the Opera House in the park by Töölönlahti water front in Helsinki.
The event begins at 9 p.m. with speeches by cosmologist and author Kari Enqvist and priest Raija Korhonen. Music by Emma Salokoski and Johanna Juhola.
The floating lanterns will be released at approximately 10 p.m. You can also buy lanterns at the event venue. The price is 2 euros.
